Dividends per share, yields and dates from Yahoo Finance. Yields use the last 12 months of dividends and today’s price, so they change as the price moves. Dividends tax is withheld at 20% for most South African individuals. Artive Capital doesn’t raise outside capital; it only trades and invests Artive’s own, and has no clients. This is a screen we use to decide where to look, not a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Prices are delayed and third-party data can be wrong; check with your broker before you act.
QuestionsGood to know.
The dividends a company paid over the last 12 months as a percentage of its share price today. A R100 share that paid R5 in dividends yields 5%.
The first day a share trades without its next dividend. On the JSE you must buy by the last day to trade, the day before the ex-dividend date, to get the dividend. The share price usually drops by about the dividend on the ex-date.
The share of its profit a company pays out as dividends. A low ratio leaves room to grow the dividend; a very high one can mean the dividend is at risk if profits fall.
